Overview

ERXray (Event Rules X-Ray) is a browser-based viewer for the logic inside JD Edwards EnterpriseOne reports and applications. Load an OMW .par export or a plain-text ER Extract, and it lays out the sections, the event rules, the data selection, and every business function, table and UBE the object uses.

It is built for the moment you open an object you did not write, or one you wrote long ago, and need to understand it quickly. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

What it can do

  • Load files your way

Drop or browse for .par or .txt files, or paste an ER Extract directly. Load several objects at once and switch between them from the loaded-files panel. Instructions for exporting a PAR from OMW, or an ER Extract from Report Design Aid or P95110, are built in.

  • What it does, in plain English

A summary of the object’s purpose, its processing options and any notable developer comments, so you know what you are looking at before you read a single rule.

  • Overview and complexity gauge

Statistics on table I/O, business function calls and report interconnects, plus a complexity gauge rated Low, Medium or High.

  • Sections, execution order and data selection

Section lists with line counts. For UBEs, the execution order and the data selection are shown too.

  • A readable Event Rules view

The full logic with sequential line numbers, collapsible sections and event banners. Hide commented lines, fold If blocks, highlight the whole If block under the pointer, see a flowchart of each event, jump through Do Custom Section links, highlight every match of a selected word, and go to a line or search.

  • Variables, tracked to the line

Every prefixed operand is listed, and each usage links to its exact line in the event rules.

  • Find text, tables, external calls and processing options

Full-text search. Table read and write counts. The functions and reports an object calls or launches. An explorer that shows what each processing option controls.

  • Ask in plain English

Type a question and get an answer drawn from the parsed object, with clickable references back to the lines it came from.

  • Bookmarks and notes

Bookmark lines in the event rules and attach notes. They save in your browser per report, and you can export them as a JSON file and restore them later, even after the extract has been edited.

  • Compare two versions

See changed, new, removed and identical events between two versions, with word-level differences.

  • Export as a document

Create a Word or PDF file with the sections you choose. Bookmark notes appear as sticky notes at their lines. You can also share an extract together with its bookmarks and notes.

How to use it

  1. Export your object

Export a PAR from OMW, or an ER Extract from Report Design Aid or P95110. ERXray has the export instructions built in.

  2. Load it

Drop the file in, browse for it, or paste the ER Extract. Load more than one object if you want to compare or switch between them.

  3. Read it

Start with What it does and Overview, then go into Event Rules, Variables and the other views.

  4. Keep your findings

Bookmark lines, add notes, compare versions, or export the sections you need as a Word or PDF document.

Good to know

  • ERXray reads text exports, so check event numbers against Report Design Aid before you rely on their order.
  • Files are processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
